Thursday Selections – June 4th 2020

Hi all,

Another winner curtosey of Celestran (11/4) at Yarmouth on yesterday.

Racing returns to Newmarket today with six juvenile races as part of a ten-race card. There’s also another meeting at Newcastle.

I have selections from both meetings.

Newcastle

1:00 – Idoapologise – 3/1 @Bet365 – Improved for the stepping into handicap company when winning at Thirsk and here over 7f in October. The handicapper has raised him 7lb for that latter success but he looks capable of better as a 3-year-old. Stamina for a mile has to be taken on trust but this hold up performer should get a strong pace to chase.

Newmarket

5:55 – Arbalet – 7/2 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Twice a winner for previous trainer Hugo Palmer. He arguably put in his best performance when 2nd of 27 in the International Stakes at Ascot in July 2018. Last season was disappointment but he’s subsequently been sold to David O’Meara for 90,000 Gns. Well suited too quick ground and 7f. He can race off a 14llb lower mark than in that valuable Ascot handicap and if the gelding operation can revitalise the 5-year-old he will take some beating.

6:30 – Inclyne – 4/1 @Bet365 – Trainer Andrew Balding has made a good start to the season and he could have another winner here with Inclyne. The filly’s sole win came at Kempton last August but she’s also got decent placed form on turf. Starts the new season off what looks a workable mark and should go close.

Cheers

John
