Hi all,
English King kept the winning run going with an impressive performance in the Derby Trial at Lingfield. That win propelled the Ed Walker trained colt to the top of the Epsom Derby ante post betting.
Three meetings today and I have selections from Newcastle & Newmarket.
Newmarket
2:25 – Queen Power – 11/4 @ Bet365 & Ladbrokes – The 4-year-old has only had four starts last season winning a Listed race at Newbury in May before looking not stay 1m 4f when only 4th in the 11 in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot. Given trainer Sir Michael Stoute has a good record with his older fillies, she looks one who can do better again this season. She was keen in her races last year but when she learns to settle, she can win a nice pot.
Newcastle
2:05 – Daarik – 11/4 @ Bet365 – Has just had the four career starts, winning here as juvenile and following up at Kempton on his seasonal reappearance last March. Not seen out since finishing runner-up to Fox Power in a Listed race here over a mile in April. He’s been gelded over the winter and looks the sort to win more races this year.
3:15 – Acquitted – 4/1 @ William Hill – I’m taking on hot favourite Palace Pier with the Hugo Palmer trained Acquitted. A winner of two of his three starts as a 2-year-old. He looked a useful prospect when landing the final of those two wins at Newbury in October. Has the scope to improve further as a 3-year-old and if the favourite fails to fire, he can make a winning handicap debut.
Cheers
John
