Today’s selections are from Ascot, Haydock, and Wincanton.
Ascot
4:10 – Loup De Maulde – 3/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Faces 14 rivals in the Ascot Racecourse Supports Box4Kids Handicap Hurdle. The 7-year-old returned from a 9 month to finish an encouraging 3 ¾ length 2nd of 13 at Huntingdon 23 days ago. He came up against an improver last time and with the cheekpieces returning I think he’s the one to be with.
Haydock
3:50 – Lord Snootie – 7/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Steadily progressive in staying handicap hurdles last season. Heran well to finish an honourable 8 length 6th of 15 to Slate Lane over C&D in November. Ran poorly when pulling up at Wincanton at Christmas but surely amiss that day. Capable of a big performance if bouncing back to his best on ground that suits.
Wincanton
2:35 – The Russian Doyen – 4/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Returned from a 21-month absence to finish an encouraging 14 ½ length 4th of 6 at Newbury but took a step backwards back at that venue last time. Should be fine on heavy ground (three-time winner on soft ground) and been given a chance by the handicapper.
