Chepstow
1:35 – Aye Right – 7/2 @ Bet365 – Hasn’t won since November 2021, but he’s a smart handicap chaser at his best and is 6lb lower than when finishing a 4 ½ length 2nd of 10 to Sounds Russian on his seasonal return at Kelso last October. Returns for the first time since February but has won off a lay off in the past and the 10-year-old must be respected on his first start in veterans’ company.
York
5:00 – Wen Moon – 6/1 @ Ladbrokes & Bet365 – The removal of the cheekpieces has seen the 3-year-old improve to finish runner-up in two big field handicaps over C&D on his last two starts. Nudged up 2lb but goes well on rain softened ground suits and has got a good chance of going one better than last time.
5:35 – Kalganov – 5/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Comes into the race bidding for the hat trick after wins at Redcar and Ayr 10 days ago. Has a 5lb penalty to carry for his latest success but remains on a winnable mark. There should be no problem with soft ground for the 4-year-old and he can go in again if a busy autumn hasn’t caught up with him.
