Wednesday Selections – September 29th 2021

Hi all,

Those fine margins came into play yesterday as Aquamas, unlucky in the run, just failed to get up at Ayr.

Today’s selections from Nottingham & Kempton.

Nottingham

3:30 – Noble Masquerade – 4/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Travelled through the Old Borough Cup (1m 6f) like he remains a well handicapped horse. Hit the front 3f out and was only headed when his stamina gave way well inside the final furlong. He can race off the same mark here and although he takes a big drop back in distance today, he’s a big chance from an inform yard.

4:00 – Forever William – 11/2 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – The 3-year-old is a six-race maiden. However, he’s shown that he has ability to win off around his present mark. Hung away his chance in the straight when a 1 ½ length 3rd of 7 at Kempton last time. The first time cheekpieces are applied and if they have the desired effect, he can go close.

Kempton

6:00 – Raadobarg – 4/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – The selection showed a liking for plenty of ease in the ground in the spring and completed the hat trick when winning at Haydock in May. He ran better than his 8 ½ length 8th of 29 suggests in the Britannia Handicap at Royal Ascot on quick ground. Off for almost three months he shaped with plenty of promise when a 1 ½ length 3rd of 8 at Doncaster 18-days ago. Should be spot on fitness wise for his first start on the all-weather and looks capable of rating higher.

Cheers

John

Tuesday Selections – September 28th 2021

Hi all,

Today’s selections are from Ayr and Cork.

Ayr

2:45 – Aquamas – 5/1 @ Bet365 & Paddy Power – A modest maiden but there was a bit of an encouragement from his first start over 7f at Musselburgh last time.  Although he finished only a 5-length 4th of 11 that day. He didn’t get the best of passages in the final 2f’s and looks worth another try at the trip. Best form has come with some juice in the ground.

Cork

4:05 – Erzindjan – 6/1 @ Bet365 – A winner at Gowran Park in the spring. The 3-year-old hasn’t always been the most reliable this season but he ran up to his best when 2 lengths 7th of 14 in the Group 2 Boomerang Stakes at Leopardstown last time. Goes well with some ease in the ground and reproduction of his latest effort would see him go close.

5:10 – Treble Cone – 5/1 – Gen – The selection won a division of this mile handicap last year and can race off 7lb lower this time around. The visor he wore when winning 12 months ago returns for the first time this season. Just the four starts this season and although was only 7th of 15 at Bellewstown last month that was an encouraging enough effort with this race in mind.

Saturday Selections – September 25th 2021

Hi all,

Hopefully we can sign off with winner today as I will be off for the next two days. Back on Tuesday.

Chester

3:10 – Harb – 100/30 @ Bet365 – The selection won at the third attempt when making all at Chelmsford 16-days ago. Not the best of draws in stall five but he’s going the right way and makes his nursery debut off a workable mark.

Curragh

3:35 – Magniffico – 4/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Seemed to have improved for the step into nursery company when a ½ length 2nd of 14 over C&D last month. He’s only been raised 1lb for that effort and looks capable of winning a race like this.

Newmarket

4:50 – Outside World – 5/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Bounced back from a poor run in the Group 2 Lowther Stakes when making all at Goodwood earlier this month. The filly showed a good battling attitude to prevail after being headed and that will hold her in good stead here. Up 4lb but could be open to improvement for the step up 7f.

Cheers

Friday Selections – September 24th 2021

Hi all,

Today’s selections are from Newmarket, York, and Dundalk

Newmarket

3:00 – Majestic Glory – 5/2 @ Paddy Power & Betfair Sportsbook – The selection has won her last starts, both on the July Course, including the Group 3 Sweet Solera Stakes last time. The runner-up Wild Beauty has since gone to win a Grade 1 at Woodbine (Canada) since the form is solid and she’s open to further improvement.

York

3:50 – A Boy Named Ivy – 11/4 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Has been knocking on the door on his last two starts at Thirsk. Waited with after a slow start. He didn’t get the best of runs 2f out and had to be switched to the outside to make his run. Finished his race off well and just failed by a short head to get up. Up 1lb but should remain competitive.

Dundalk

7:15 – Dammit – 7/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – The 4-year-old remains a maiden after eight starts but did post a personal best on RPR’s when a ½ length 2nd of 12 at Down Royal three weeks ago. Produced his best run on his last start all-weather when a short head 3rd of 13 here in April. Can go close if in the same form as last time.

Cheers

Thursday Selections – September 23rd 2021

Hi all,

We got a winner yesterday, courtesy of Sea Sylph at Goodwood, which produced a small profit to advised early prices. However, I was expecting two winners. The service seems to be stuck in first and could do with putting to together another good run.

Today’s selections are from Newmarket and Wolverhampton.

Newmarket

1:35 – Noisy Night100/30 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – The colt has been well placed to win his last three starts all at Kempton. Up 5lb for the last of those wins but he’s going the right way and will be suited by the step up to a mile. If he handles the track is the one to beat.

4:30 – Bake – 11/4 @ Bet365 & Paddy Power – Bake bids for the hat trick after wins at Yarmouth and Doncaster. He’s only been nudged up 2lb for his latest success and given he’s an improving 3-year-old is capable of better still.

Wolverhampton

8:00 – Giuseppe Cassioli – 7/2 @ Bet365 – A previous C&D winner, off 6lb lower, the selection showed he remained in form when a ½ length 3rd of 14 in London Mile Series Final at Kempton last time. Stall 9 could be better but he should be capable of going close again.

Cheers

Wednesday Selections – September 22nd 2021

Hi all,

I have struggled to separate today’s shortlist so here are four of them.

Goodwood

1:45 – Imrahor – 11/4 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Returned from a 9-month absence to finish an encouraging 1 ¾ length 3rd of 11 at Newbury last month. That was his handicap debut and his first run since a gelding operation. Really quick ground would be a slight unknown but apart from that he can get the better of last time out Sandown winner Kettle Hill.

2:52 – King Vega – 3/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Didn’t have to be at his best when winning a novice over C&D (good to firm) 15-days ago. Prior to that he had returned from a 5-month layoff to finish a promising 2 ½ length 5th of 10 in a Sandown Group 3. Fresher than most, he ticks the all-important going, course and distance boxes and can win this.

3:27 – Sea Sylph – 9/2 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – The selection wasn’t as well placed as the winner when finishing a 1-length 2nd of 8 at Bath three weeks ago. If she had been closer when making her effort she would have probably have won. The filly has been nudged up 1lb for that effort but has a good chance of going one better.

Listowel

3:20 – Oscar Romero – 5/1 @ Paddy Power & Betfair Sportsbook – Has won three of his last four starts. The 6-year-old posted a personal best when winning at Ballinrobe last month and although he’s up a further 11lb for that success, he’s likely remaining on a competitive mark and looks capable of going in again against some exposed handicappers.

Cheers

John

Tuesday Selection – September 21st 2021

Hi all,

Today’s sole selection is from Lingfield.

Lingfield

4:20 – Lightening Shore – 9/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – The 3-year-old put in a good effort when beaten a short head her over a mile on his seasonal reappearance. Returned from a 9-week absence to finish 4th of 8 at Chelmsford last month. The first time cheekpieces are applied today and if the headgear has the desired effect he won’t be far away.

Cheers

John

Monday Selections – September 20th 2021

Hi all,

Today’s selections are from Leicester and Wolverhampton.

Leicester

3:10 – Nomadic Empire – 7/2 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – The selection is only 1-15 but he’s put in plenty of decent efforts in defeat this season. At his best on quick ground. He was only beaten ¾ length into second at Doncaster last month, off 1lb higher, and looks worth chancing here with William Buick booked.

Wolverhampton

5:30 – Kingsholm – 11/4 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Both career wins have come here, including one over C&D. Now 1lb below his last winning mark. Visor stays on for a return to this venue and has handy low draw to work with. Better expected today.

Cheers

John

Saturday Selections – September 18th 2021

Hi all,

Two winners yesterday although one was a dead heat.  It shows the run the service has been on that I was happy that Ruskin Red had managed to claim a share of the spoils at Kempton.

Today’s selections are from Ayr & Newbury.

Ayr

1:20 – Heights Of Aran –4/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes Has shaped with enough promise on his three starts in maiden/novice company to think he’s on a workable mark for his nursery debut and looks interesting here with trainer Keith Dalgleish booking Hollie Doyle for the ride

Newbury

1:40 – Paxos – 4/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Both the selection’s two career wins have come on the all-weather but he ran fine on his turf debut when a short head 2nd of 16 at York back in June. Not seen to best effect when caught out wide on his return from a short break at Windsor last time but is better judged on his York run.

5:05 – Bague D’Or – 7/2 Coral & Ladbrokes – The 3-year-old has improved since stepping up to 1m 2f+ and posted a personal best when running out a 2 ¼ length winner at Newmarket three weeks ago. That was his first start over 1m 4f and although he’s been raised 5lb looks set to go well again.

Cheers

John

Friday Selections – September 17th 2021

Hi all,

The poor run continued yesterday. However, we’ll soon come out of it and today would be a great day to do so. Today’s selections are from Kempton and Dundalk.

Kempton

7:30 – Ruskin Red – 5/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – The selection is a ten-race maiden but looks on a competitive looking mark on a return to the polytrack. He put in a career best when a ½ length 2nd of 13 here in May but arguably bettered that performance when a 1 ¾ length 3rd of 11 in amateur rider’s race at Windsor 40-days ago.

8:00 – Proclaimer – 100/30 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Proclaimer returned from a 10-week absence to finish an encouraging 2 ¾ length 7th of 14 at Newcastle 14-days ago. That was the 4-year-old’s first run since wind surgery and he can do better returned to a mile.

Dundalk

7:15 – Chateau Musar – 5/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Gained a fourth course when winning over C&D. off 1lb lower, in April. The 4-year-old shaped like he remained in form when a 1 ¾ length 5th of 17 here when last seen in action 67-days ago. If ready to roll after a break looks set to go close.

Cheers

John
