Friday Selections – November 26th 2021

Hi all,

Today’s selections are from Newbury and Dundalk.

Newbury

12:40 – Miller’s Bank – 2/1 @ BetVictor 15/8 @Bet365 – A very useful hurdler who won a good ground handicap hurdle here in March. Before posting a career best when a 3 ½ length 3rd of 11, just a length behind Buzz, in the Grade 1 Aintree Hurdle. The 7-year-old jumped well when making a winning chase debut at Huntingdon last month and is capable of more improvement.

2:25 – Fanion D’Estruval – 5/2 @ Paddy Power & Betfair Sportsbook – The 6-year-old a very useful chaser last season raced like the run was needed when a strong finishing 4th of 8 in the Old Roan Handicap Chase at Aintree on his seasonal return, just 1 ½ lengths behind recent Paddy Power Handicap Chase winner Midnight Shadow. This distance is needed on good ground and this previous course winner must be high on the shortlist.

Dundalk

7:30 – Jake Peter – 3/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – The previous C&D winner, shaped like he was coming into winning form when a 1 ¼ length 4th of 10 here over 1m 4f two weeks ago. That distance isn’t enough of a stamina test for the 7-year-old these days and he will be better suited by today’s return to 2m.

Cheers

John

Thursday Selections – November 25th 2021

Hi all,

Today’s selections are from Taunton, Lingfield and Wolverhampton.

Taunton

12:55 – Brilliant Present – 11/2 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – An all-weather bumper winner last December. The mare didn’t build on the promise of her spring hurdle debut when a 26-length 6th of 12 at Huntingdon last month. Remains capable of better in the sphere and is good hands.

Lingfield

2:17 – Confirmation Bias – 6/1 @ Bet365 – Seemed to improve for the fitting of the cheekpieces when winning a novice hurdle at Wincanton (good) in March and then followed up with an even better effort back at the same venue the following month. Capable of better over fences and should be suited by the ground.

Wolverhampton

3:05 – Garden Paradise – 6/4 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Jockey Adam Kirby 2-2 when teaming up with trainer James Tate at Wolverhampton. The selection a winner at Newbury in June, shaped like she would appreciate racing beyond 1m 4f when 3rd of 7 at Ascot last time. Back from a 139-day break here but went close on her Chelmsford seasonal return in April. Should be able to get an uncontested lead even from her wide draw.

Cheers

John

Wednesday Selection – November 24th 2021

Hi all

Just the one selection today from Kempton.

Kempton

7:45 – Pretty Sweet – 3/1 @ Bet365 & Sky Bet – A consistent filly who has yet to finish outside the first three on her six career starts. Not well placed last time and had to make her effort out wide when a strong finishing 3rd of 10 here last time. Should be suited by today’s extra furlong and can add to her sole career win.

Cheers

John

Tuesday Selections – November 23rd 2021

Hi all,

Today’s selections are from Punchestown and Wolverhampton.

Punchestown

12:00 – Indiana Jones – 5/4 – Gen – A useful enough novice hurdler, a winner at Cork 12 months ago.  Bred to be a better chaser than a hurdler. The 5-year-old finished a 2 ¼ lengths 2nd of 18 to the promising Mr Incredible in a beginners’ chase at Naas on his debut over fences 17-days ago. More than capable of winning a race like this.

2:05 – I A Connect – 4/1 – Gen – The selection a winner of a good ground NH Flat race at Kilbeggan in the summer. Followed up by winning on his hurdle debut at Listowel in September. Improved further when a 2 ¾ lengths 2n of 5 to Ciel de Neige at Sligo last month and is open to further progress in the sphere.

Wolverhampton

7:30 – Qaaraat – 15/8 @ Paddy Power & Betfair Sportsbook – Seemed to bounce back to form in the reapplied cheekpieces replacing the visor, when a ¾ length 3rd of 8 over C&D 10-days ago. On a long losing run but that means the 6-year-old is now 11lb his last winning mark and 4lb below when winning this race 12 months ago. Another big performance can be expected.

Cheers

John

Monday Selections – November 22nd 2021

Hi all,

Today’s selections are from Ayr, Kempton, and Ludlow.

Ayr

2:10 – Fete Champetre – 100/30 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – A winner over hurdles at Kelso (good) on his seasonal reappearance last month. The 6-year-old was challenging when he ran out at the last on his chase debut at Hexham 17-days ago. Up until that point he made a pleasing start over the larger obstacles and it may pay to ignore last time’s waywardness.

Kempton

3:25 – Timberland – 7/2 – Gen – Twice a winner over hurdles last spring on good ground. The 6-year-old returned from a 5-month break with an encouraging 1 ¼ lengths 3rd of 12 to a stablemate in conditional jockey’s handicap hurdle at Cheltenham last month. That was a career best effort from the selection who shouldn’t be far away off 1lb higher.

Ludlow

3:05 – Ship Of The Fen – 7/2 @ Bet365 & Coral – The selection, a multiple winner on the flat, remains a maiden after 11 starts over jumps. However, he’s only had four starts over fences and looks competitively weighted if reproducing the form of his chasing debut 2nd of 10 at Uttoxeter in September.

Sunday Selections – November 21st 2021

Hi all,

When you have been struggling it’s good to get some winners at whatever price. Jut to get the confidence back. Mind you the four winners we have had over the past two days hasn’t given us much in the way of profit.

Today’s selections are from Navan & Uttoxeter.

Navan

2:20 – Gaspard Du Seuil – 9/4 @ Bet365 – The selection has finished runner-up on both starts since returning from a 9-month absence. He put up an improved effort on his handicap debut when a 1 ¼ lengths 2nd of 18 over C&D 14-days ago. Nudged up 3lb for that performance but raced last time like he was ahead of his mark and could be the answer here.

Uttoxeter

1:10 – Bootlegger – 13/8 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Has been running as well as ever over hurdles, placing on both starts since returning from a summer break. The 8-year-old beat all but a very much inform horse when an 8 ½ lengths 2nd of 14 at Aintree last month. With a more prominent ride than last time he can go one better.

Cheers

John

Saturday Selections – November 20th 2021

Hi all,

A double yesterday, albeit the profit was a small one, but it was vital the service got among the winners. Today’s selections are from Haydock & Ascot

Haydock

12:40 – Defuture Is Bright – 7/2 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Twice a winner over fences last season. He ended his campaign with a personal best when a ¾ length 2nd of 11 here (good) last April. Not seen at his best on either start this season but his 7th of 17 at Cheltenham was more encouraging and he’s 3lb lower here. The suspicion is there’s a race in 7-year-old off around his present mark.

3:00 – A Plus Tard – 11/8 @ Paddy Power & Betfair Sportsbook – The selection is the class horse of the race on the back of his Gold Cup second. However, this is his seasonal reappearance and he’s yet to win off a 60+ day off. That said most of his rivals have questions to answer and this has been the target.

Ascot

2:40 – Buzz – 11/10 – Gen – The Cesarewitch winner returns to hurdling today. The 7-year-old ended last season with a 1 ¼ length 2nd of 11 to Abacadabras in the Grade 1 Aintree Hurdle. Could develop into a Stayers Hurdle contender if he wins this. Ground versatile, he’s won here over hurdles and looks the one to beat.

Cheers

Friday Selections – November 19th 2021

Hi all,

Today’s selections are from Ascot and Dundalk.

Ascot

3:50 – Getalead 2/1 @ Sky Bet – Is another seeking the hat trick and found plenty for pressure when winning at Warwick just 2-days ago. Both wins have come on good ground and he can race off the same mark. The one to beat, if turning out so quickly but could have had a hard race last time.

Dundalk

6:00 – Annabelle Rock – 17/2 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – A decent handicapper in the right grade. First start today since running below her best form on turf and here in the spring. Goes well fresh and a reproduction of her neck 2nd of 14 over C&D, back in February, off 6lb higher would see her go close.

6:30 – Newgirlintown –7/2 @ Coral & LadbrokesPut in a career best effort when a head 2nd of 10 over C&D last week. The mare has yet to win on her four starts at Dundalk but has now finished runner-up on three starts here. Up 1lb here but Colin Keane books which is a positive.

Cheers

John

Thursday Selections – November 18th 2021

Hi all,

Today’s selections are from Market Rasen & Thurles.

Market Rasen

12:52 – Go Chique – 7/2 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – The mare won a handicap hurdle at Southwell in April over today’s distance and made a pleasing return to action 6th of 8 at Ascot, over an inadequate 2m 3 ½ f, 19-days ago. The return to 2m 7f will suit, as will the good ground.

1.22 – Thunderstruck – 9/2 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – The 7-year-old comfortably won a novice handicap hurdle at Fontwell in May. And has run equally as well on both starts this autumn. Given he jumped markedly to the right he did well to finish a ½-length 2nd of 6 at Uttoxeter last month. Nudged up another 3lb for that effort makes life tougher but the good ground is a definite positive.

Thurles

2:00 – Kilkenny Star – 9/2 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Looked on a stiff mark on his handicap hurdle debut but ran well to finish a 7 ½ length 4th of 20 at Punchestown at last month. The 6-year would have finished closer but didn’t get the best of run coming to two out and made a mistake at the last. Doing his best work at the finish there’s surely a race to be won.

Cheers

John

Tuesday Selections – November 17th 2021

Hi all,

Today’s selections are from Ffos Las and Hexham.

Ffos Las

2:00 – Ouro Branco – 9/1 @ Bet365 – Goes well on rain softened ground and won at around this distance at Wincanton on his seasonal reappearance last December. Shaped like he remained on a competitive mark when seemingly failing to stay an extended 2m 7f at Newbury a month later.

3:10 – Tudors Treasure – 11/2 @ Bet365 – Won a C&D handicap chase (good to soft) in May, off 4lb lower. Made an encouraging return from a six-month absence when a neck 2nd of 9 over C&D 10-days ago. Off the same mark here and can go close if in the same form today.

Hexham

3:00 – Heart Of Kernow – 7/2 @ Bet365 – Made it 3-3 over hurdles here when winning when winning a 2m handicap hurdle 12-days ago. Up 4lb for that success but remains on a competitive mark and has won over C&D in the past so the step up to 2m 4f isn’t an issue.

Cheers

John
