Tuesday 21st June

Hi all,

Today’s selections are from Newbury and Beverley.

Newbury

7:40 – Atomise – 13/2 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Charlie Fellowes trained last year’s winner, so you must respect his runner Atomisewho was back to form when a 3 length 3d of 10 at Yarmouth last month. She seems fairly treated with Harry Davies taking off 5lb.

8:10 – Alablaq – 13/2 @ Bet365 – Trainer David Evans fresh from saddling Rohaan to win the Wokingham Handicap at Royal Ascot can hopefully have another winner here. The selection is 0-5 on turf, both career wins all the all-weather, but has done enough to think he’s just as effective on the grass. Last time did best of those up with a strong pace when a 2-length 3rd of 8 at Leicester last month. He could get an uncontested lead here and Hollie Doyle takes over in the saddle.

Beverley

2:45 – Strongbowe – 10/1 @ Bet365 – The selection shaped like he was coming back to form when a 1 ¼ length 4th of 16 at Doncaster 9-days ago. He’s now 1lb below his last winning mark and should be fine over today’s extra furlong. Provided he isn’t slowly away, has been in the past, he can give a good account on ground that suits.

Cheers

Thursday 7th March

Hi all,

Well the ground seems to be easing all round the country. Better late than never I suppose.  It increasingly looks like the Cheltenham festival going will be more soft than good for Day 1 at least.

Anyway, let’s not carried away with Cheltenham just yet. As I have selections from Wincanton and Thurles for you today.

Wincanton

3:35 – Vis A Vis – 6/5 @ William Hill & Bet365 – The Neil Mulholland has started to hit form after a quiet winter. I am hoping Vis A Vis can continue the stables good form here. Fourth in last years Cesarewitch. The 5-year-old returned from gelding operation and a 128-day absence to make a promising debut over hurdle when 2nd of 11 at Carlisle 17-days ago. Capable of better and should be fitter for that last run.

Thurles

4:45 – Smoking Gun – 5/2 @ Paddy Power – Made it 3 from 5 over hurdles when putting up a career best when winning at Gowran Park 19-days ago. The selection is 8lb higher now but he’s improving and the step up in trip to 2m 6 ½ f should suit. Any rain would be appreciated according to trainer Joseph O’Brien.

Cheers

February 27th 2019

Wincanton

5:00 – Risk A Fine – 11//10 @ WH or Evens – Gen – Multiple point to point winner. The selection showed his well being when winning a 3m Hunter Chase at Fakenham 12-days ago. Drop to 2m 4f won’t be an issue nor will going right-handed.

Kempton

5:30 – Magicinthemaking – 10/3 @ WH or 3/1 – Gen –  A winner two starts back at Chelmsford over 6f. The mare then went on to finish second back at that venue over 7f. Drop back to 6f won’t be a problem and she’s in form.
