Sunday Selections – December 4th 2022

Hi all,

Today’s selection is from Kelso.

Kelso

12:50 – Cedar Hill – 7/4 @ Bet365 & Coral – A four time C&D winner the selection put in a solid enough effort on seasonal return when a 2 length 3rd of 8 at Ayr 36-days ago. The 8-year-old is just 1lb above his last winning mark and should be better positioned than the nicely treated Pay The Piper in what could a slowly run race.

Cheers

Saturday Selections – December 3rd 2022

Hi all,

Both today’s selections are from Chepstow.

Chepstow

1:02 – Dalamoi – 15/8 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – The selection is bred to make a chaser, a half-brother to Don Poli, and made a winning debut over the larger obstacles at Kempton last month. Jumped well for a novice last time and although he’s 8lb higher is capable of more improvement.

2:12 – Iron Bridge – 2/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Unbeaten on two starts over hurdles, the 6-year-old was quickly sent over fences and created a good impression when making a winning debut over the larger obstacles at Carlisle 34-days ago. The handicapper has hiked him up 12lb but the step up to 3m should bring out further improvement.

Cheers

Friday Selections – December 2nd 2022

Hi all,

Today’s selections are from Sedgefield, Exeter and Newcastle.

Sedgefield

12:30 – Regal Renaissance – 5/1 @ Coral – Looked far from the finished article when an encouraging 10 ½ length 4th of 9 at Ludlow (2m) last month. The step up to 2m 4f should suit the mare on handicap hurdle debut and she looks on a workable enough mark of 96.

Exeter

1:25 – Blenkinsop – Evens – Has improved for the step up to around 2m 4f to win both starts this season at Ludlow and latterly Southwell 10-days ago. The 5-year-old has a 5lb penalty to carry for his latest success but looks progressive and can go in again.

Newcastle

6:15 – Bellagio Man – 11/2 @ Bet365 – Has seemingly improved for the fitting of cheekpieces winning by a nose over C&D two starts back before being beaten a short neck when 3rd of 14 here 17-days ago. Nudged up 1lb and in a slightly better race but he travelled last time like he can win again

Cheers

Thursday Selections – December 1st 2022

Hi all,

Another couple of seconds yesterday but Aussie Banker did the business at Kempton to give the service a profitable November. It wasn’t an easy month, but we had a solid last week with plenty of winners to give the service a tidy profit.

Today’s selections are from Wincanton.

Wincanton

1:25 – Putdecashonthedash – 11/2 @ Bet365 – Jumped well in the first time blinkers to win at Plumpton in January. Back from wind surgery. The 9-year-old is only 3lb higher on his return to action and is weighted to go close if ready to roll after his long absence.

1:55 – Shutupshirley – 7/4 @ Bet365 & Coral – The selection improved for the step up to 2m 5 ½ f when running out a 13 length winner at Exeter 11-days ago. Up to 3 ½ f today but should stay and is the one to beat under his 7lb penalty.

Cheers

Wednesday Selections – November 30th 2022

Hi all,

Plenty of winners this month and a tidy profit. The prices haven’t been great, but I decided at the start of the month to concentrate on selections near to the front of the market which is why the despite the number of winners the profit wasn’t large.

The month ends with selections from Haydock, Ludlow, and Kempton.

Haydock

1:05 – Post Chaise – 5/2 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – A winner on handicap hurdle debut at Hereford in March. He’s placed on both starts since including when a 4 length 3rd of 13 at Kelso (2m 5f) on his seasonal return. The return to 3m should suit and he remains on a competitive mark.

2:37 – Nemean Lion – 3/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – A fascinating introductory hurdle and most of the nine runners are capable of better over hurdles and there’s likely one or two smart ones in the line-up. Non more so than the selection. A useful flat stayer when trained by Andre Fabre two years ago. The 5-year-old who needed his first start for Kerry Lee after a 748-day absence last month made an impressive hurdle debut at Hereford 15-days ago. He looked a smart prospect that day and even with a 5lb penalty can go in again.

Ludlow

1:45 – Cup Of Coffee – 7/2 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Twice a winner including C&D last season. The mare was in the process of running a big race on seasonal return when falling two out at Fakenham 15-days ago. Meets the winner Mullenbeg on 6lb better terms here and provided her confidence hasn’t been affected by that mishap she shouldn’t be far away.

Kempton

7:20 – Aussie Banker – 5/1 @ Bet365 – A winner at Haydock on handicap debut in the spring. The 3-year-old has run with promise on both starts on the all-weather since returning from a 5 month break and was doing his best work at the finish when a 1 ¼ length 4th of 14 over C&D 21-days ago. Has a wider draw than ideal in stall 11 but Buick booked, and the selection is close to another win.

Cheers

Tuesday Selections – November 29th 2022

Hi all,

Today’s selections are from Southwell.

Southwell

12:25 Ile De Jersey – 2/1 @ Bet365 – The 4-year-old had looked set for the win when falling at the last at Taunton 19-days ago. Provided her confidence hasn’t been damaged by that mishap she can gain compensation here.

1:00 – Gemirande – 7/4 @ Bet365 & Ladbrokes – The 6-year-old should be sharper for his 9 length 2nd of 8 at Hereford three weeks ago. He finished a close-up second over C&D last December from 2lb higher and should be able to win a race like this.

3:05 – Biowavego – 3/1 @ Bet365 – Improved for the step up to 2m 7f when beating nine rivals at Worcester last month. There should be more to come from the 5-year-old on just his third start in handicap company.

Cheers

John

Monday Selections – November 28th 2022

Hi all,

Today’s selections are from Wolverhampton and Kempton.

Wolverhampton

4:55 – Hooflepuff – 7/2 @ Bet365 – The selection bids for a course hat trick after a comfortable success over 1f shorter 9-days ago. Up 5lb for that win but was an unlucky third in this race 12 months ago off 1lb higher. Given present vein of form should go close.

Kempton

2:15 – Big Wing – 4/1 @ Bet365 & Coral – Yet to win after 15 starts on the flat but came in for good support (4/1 fav) prior to finishing a head 2nd of 13 to Hooflepuff at Wolverhampton 17-days ago. Nudged up 1lb for that effort but the winner has gone in again and if the 5-year-old can reproduce his last time out effort he won’t be far away.

4:45 – Nap Hand – 15/8 @ Bet365 – Produced a career best on RPR’s on his handicap debut over C&D 12-days ago. Given his running style he’ll prefer a better run race last time which he isn’t certain to get here either. However, he’s on a workable mark though and should be able to win a race like this.

Cheers

John

Sunday Selections – November 27th 2022

Hi all,

Today’s selections are from Carlisle.

Carlisle

12:30 – Wor Verge – 6/4 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Gained a second C&D success this season 28-days ago. Up 6lb for his latest success but looked like he had plenty in hand that day. If a hard race last time hasn’t left a mark then he should be up to completing a hat trick.

2:30 – Storm Nelson – 7/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Veteran Captain Zebo is four time course winner, including once over the distance, and has become well handicapped. However, I’m going with the selection who is 2-2 over C&D.  The 9-year-old gained a hat trick of successes in the spring of 2021 and still looked on the up when a 6 length 2nd of 9 at Ayr in January. Back from wind surgery and looks capable of big run if ready to roll after his absence.

3:00 – Equus Dreamer – 7/2 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – A winning hurdler he shaped with plenty of promise on his three starts over fences last season including when a ¾ length 2nd of 7 over C&D when last seen in action in February. Has a decent record fresh and trainer Kim Bailey is 5-8 63% with his chasers at Carlisle in the last five years.

Cheers

John

Saturday Selections – November 26th 2022

Hi all,

Today’s selections are from Newcastle and Doncaster

Newcastle

12:30 – Broadway Joe –  9/2 @ Bet365 & Sky Bet – Started last season with three wins over fences and ran well in defeat afterwards. The 8-year-old returned to action three weeks ago with an encouraging effort when a 2 length 3rd of 8 at Kelso and can win races this season.

1:35 – Malinello – 11/4 _ Gen – 1-3 over hurdles two seasons back, returns from wind surgery and 686-day layoff on chase debut.  It’s trainer Ben Pauling’s only runner on the card and if the 7-year-old is ready to roll first time then he won’t be far away.

Doncaster

2:57 – Galore Desassences – 100/30 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Improved for the fitting of the cheekpieces winning at Taunton & Wincanton at the end of last year and then finishing 3rd of 8 in a Grade 2 at Kempton in February. Badly hampered and quickly pulled up on reappearance at Ascot last month. Remains on a competitive mark and is the pick.

Cheers

John

Friday Selections – November 25th 2022

Hi all,

Today’s selections are from Ffos Las.

Ffos Las

2:40 – Trelawne – 15/8 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – A winner at Exeter on hurdle debut in February.  Hung away his chance on the run in back at the same venue the following month but hopefully that was down to inexperience.  Suited by soft ground and must have a good chance on handicap hurdle debut.

3:15 – Storm Force Ben – 5/1 @ Bet365 – The selection remains a maiden after 13 starts but is nicely treated if reproducing his 1 ¾ length 2nd of 9 on seasonal reappearance 12 months ago. Disappointed on his final two starts last season and hopes are pinned on a 272-day break having freshening him up.

Cheers

John
