3:30 – Angels Wrath – 10/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – The Irish challenger can give backers a good run for their money in today’s feature the Listed Rothesay Stakes. Runner-up in a Gowran Park Listed contest three weeks ago. She’s unexposed over the distance and could be capable of better. This is her first start on good ground on turf, but her dam’s two career wins came on good to firm so that provides hope that she can prove effective on it.

Tuesday Selections – May 23rd 2023

7:00 – Fast And Loose – 4/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Was 4 ¾ lengths behind one of today rivals Woven last time. However, that was the selections first start since October, and he probably needed the run. He improved for the fitting of the blinkers when a short head 2nd of 24 in the Bronze Cup over C&D last September. The blinkers left off last time return here.

8:00 – Expressoo – 4/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Won a C&D maiden (good) on return last season, before following up at Chelmsford and finishing a head 2^nd of 11 to Heredia at York 12 months ago. Capable of going well fresh and should be suited by underfoot conditions. Starts the news season off what looks a workable mark.

Monday Selections – May 22rd 2023

Today’s selections are from Windsor.

Windsor

6:35 – Blackrod – 17/2 @ Paddy Power & Betfair Sportsbook – Won a valuable sprint handicap at Newmarket last April. However, he’s struggled for form since finishing a 4 ¾ length 7th of 26 to Rohaan in last year’s Wokingham Handicap at Royal Ascot. Down the field on both starts since joining his present trainer but the yard is among the winners now. Nicely treated when returning to form.

7:35 – Noble Masquerade – 9/2 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Isn’t the most consistent of handicappers. However, his three best turf RPR’s have come over C&D and on good to firm ground. Probably didn’t like the soft ground here on seasonal return two weeks ago and better is expected. Now 4lb below his last winning mark and should go close.

2:05 – Acotango – 3/1 @ Bet365 & Coral – Improved to win on nursery debut at Kempton on his final juvenile start and looks to have progressed over the winter after his reappearance and length 2nd of 9 to Racingbreaks Ryder in handicap at Haydock three weeks ago. The winner has since gone in again at Ascot as has the third at Newmarket which makes the form look strong.

Friday Selections – May 19th 2023

Today’s selections are from York and the final day of the Dante Festival.

2:25 – Stormy Sea – 4/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Trained by Sir Michael Stoute, ran out a comfortable winner of a Haydock novice 20 days ago. A half-sister to Bay Bridge she should stay further than a mile but as she showed at Haydock, she’s not devoid of pace. Looks a worthy rival to favourite Silver Lady.

3:35 – Sisknay – 11/4 @ Paddy Power & Betfair Sportsbook – Was caught close home by Broome in the Group 2 Dubai Gold Cup (2m) at Meydan on World Cup Night. He travelled better than anything that day but found his stamina running out close to home. This is more his trip and I think he can reverse placings with Broome especially as he gets a 3lb pull in the weights.

4:10 – Ziryab – 13/2 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Shaped with plenty of promise when a 2 length 4th of 8 at Yarmouth (soft) on his racecourse debut last month. Running green when asked for his effort but finitising his race off strongly. The son of Kingman should like the better ground, is open further improvement and will win races this season.

Thursday Selections – May 18th 2023

Today’s selections are from York’s Dante Festival.

York

2:25 – Stay Alert – 7/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes- Looked a progressive filly when making it 3 from 6 in a Group 3 at Newbury last September. Probably best not to judge to harshly her poor run when last of 14 behind Emily Upjohn in the Group 1 Fillies & Mares at Ascot at the end of last season. The ground was too soft for her that day and I can see her doing better on a sounder surface.

4:10 – Silent Words – 7/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – The choice of retained jockey Danny Tudhope. A winner at Newcastle on racecourse debut she improved again for the switch to the grass when a head 2nd of 6 at Hamilton 11-days ago. An improving filly who has race fitness on her side and likely in the mix for a trainer who had a double here yesterday.

Wednesday Selections – May 17th 2023

York’s Dante Festival gets underway this afternoon and today’s selections are from York.

York

3:00 – Azure Blue – 9/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Is a big strong filly who’s improved physically over the winter. The filly completed a Newmarket hat trick in a Listed race (6f) 11-days ago. She defied a penalty to win that day and is going the right way. I think she could be a Group 1 filly this season and she can get into the money provided this race doesn’t come too quickly.

3:35 – Midnight Mile – 10/1 @ Paddy Power & Betfair Sportsbook – Won her first two juvenile starts including the Group 3 Oh So Sharp Stakes at Newmarket. She ended last season with a solid 5 length 4th of 14 to Meditate in Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Keeneland on her final start. Starts her 3-year-old season with the potential for better and should stay 1m 2f.

7:00 – Arch Moon – 16/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Shaped like the run was needed when 4 ¾ length 7th of 12 at Pontefract last time 13-days ago. He should come on for his Pontefract reappearance and he won on his second start last season at Haydock in June, from 1lb higher. Its win only for me but I can see why some punters might want to split stakes and go each way.

7:35 – Snapcracklepop – 4/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Won here (1m) last August and seemed to stay 1m 2f when ¾ length 2^nd of 8 at Lingfield last time. He returns from a 152 day layoff with cheekpieces on for the first time. On a handy mark and the yard is 3-6 in the past 14-days.
