Today’s selections are from Salisbury and Haydock.
Salisbury
3:40 – Soprano – 4/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – The daughter of Starspangledbanner won on racecourse debut at Newmarket in May and improved again when a 2 length 3rd of 17 in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot. Hasn’t built on her Royal Ascot form on two subsequent starts but it was soft ground at Sandown (7f) two starts back and she was to keen when 2nd of 8 in the Group 3 Solera Stakes (7f). The drop back to a strongly run 6f should suit here and she’s the one for me.
Haydock
4:40 – Veil Of Shadows – 7/1 @ Bet365 & Sky Bet – I’m going for what looks the second string on jockey bookings of the Charlie Appleby pair. The daughter of Frankel a winner on racecourse debut at Kempton in February was back to form last time when a ½-length 2nd of 7 at Wolverhampton three weeks ago. Having just her second start in handicap she has the scope to progress further stepped up to 1m 2f.
