Today’s selections are from Goodwood and Galway.
Goodwood
4:00 – Isaac Shelby – 5/2 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Won the Greenham Stakes over today’s distance on seasonal return and was only beaten a neck in the French 2,000 Guineas. No match for Paddington when fourth in the St James Palace Stakes (1m) last time. I think the drop back to 7f on rain softened ground could really suit the colt.
4:35 – Emily Dickinson – 11/2 – Gen – The filly finished fourth in the Ascot Gold Cup behind Courage Mon Ami and Coltrane and has nearly five lengths to find with the pair on that running but softer ground suits her much better as we saw last time when she won the Curragh Cup. Provided the ground is genuinely soft or worse I think she’s got a good chance.
Galway
7:50 – Plunkett – 11/2 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – The selection posted a seasonal best effort on RPR’s when a 2 length 5th of 17 at Leopardstown 54 days ago and he’s been dropped 2lb in the meantime. The 6-year-old’s career best RPR came here last September over 1 ½ f further and he’s now 10lb lower. Billy Lee who rode him that day is back in the saddle for the first time this season. He’s likely be ridden for luck but if the forecast pace materialises, he’ll go close.
