Today’s selections are from Newcastle & Newmarket.
Newcastle
12:20 – Raatea – 5/2 @ Bet365 & Ladbrokes – Raatea won this race 12 months ago from 5lb lower and was back to winning ways at Haydock three weeks ago. Nudged up 3lb but looks to have a good chance of following up.
Newmarket
1:15 – Phantom Flight – 11/2 @ Ladbrokes & Paddy Power – Steadily progressive last season before running below market expectations in a Listed race at Ayr. Has shaped well enough on both starts this season and looks worth a try over 1m 4f and on breeding should stay.
1:50 – Pogo – 3/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Wasn’t seen to best effect when held up in the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot last time. Last year’s winner is a much better horse when allowed to dictate the pace from the front and his record at 7f /7 ½ f in field sizes 8 & under is 5 wins from 9 starts, 7 placed. Should get an uncontested lead here and will be hard to peg back if back to his best.
