A nice Monday double to put the service in a nice position for the start of the Cheltenham Festival. I’m concentrating on Cheltenham for the next four days but whether that proves to be a wise move or not won’t become clear until Friday evening.
Cheltenham
1:30 – Il Etait Temps – 4/1 @ Coral & Ladbrokes – Put in his place by Facile Vega at Christmas, but he had his stablemate back in 5th when quickening up well to win the Grade 1 Tattersalls Ireland Novice Hurdle at the Dublin Racing Festival. That performance has been slightly underestimated by the market and he’s definitely a Grade 1 performer to me.
4:10 – Brandy Love – 5/1 @ Bet365 – I’m going to take on last year’ s winner Marie’s Rock with one of last season’s leading mares’ novice hurdlers. She slammed Cheltenham Mares Novices Hurdle Winner Love Envoi in the Grade 1 at Fairyhouse last April. Not subjected to hard race on her belated seasonal reappearance when a 4 ¾ length 3rd of 7 to Queens Brook in a Grade 3 at Punchestown 20-days ago. Will strip fitter today and is open to further improvement for going left handed.
