Today’s selections are from Southwell and Kempton.
Southwell
5:25 – Shalaa Asker – 7/2 – Gen – Gained a third career success when beating ten rivals over C&D in December. Has run well on his last two starts to think he remains in form. As a hold up performer he needs them to go hard up front but the pace is forecast to be strong which will suit the 5-year-old.
Kempton
4:10 – Jay Jay Reilly – 5/2 – Gen – Twice a winner over hurdles on good ground including here last season. The selection improved for the change to front running when a neck 2nd of 5 on his second start over fences at Huntingdon (2m 4f) last month. A 2lb rise in the weights isn’t too harsh and if the first time cheekpieces have the desired effect for the drop back to 2m 2f, the 7-year-old won’t be far away on ground that suits.
