Hi all,
A couple of placed efforts but no winner sadly. We had six winning days on the bounce and the good run was always going to come to end sometime.
Naas
5:35 – Forever In Dreams – 7/2 @ Bet365 – Progressed well as 3-year-old winning a Listed race at Haydock last May, before going onto run Advertise to 1 ½ lengths in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot. Disappointed on her next two starts but bounced back to form on her final start of 2019 when 3rd of 17 in the Group 1 Champions Sprint at Ascot. Hopefully she can build on last season’s promise and if ready to roll after a 233-day absence should go close back in Listed company.
Haydock
12:45 – Brad The Brief – 3/1 @ William Hill – Looked a useful sprinting prospect when three of his four starts last season. The 3-year-old coped well with soft ground when winning a Conditions race at Newmarket on his final start. Needs to find some more improvement to defy a mark of 90 on his handicap debut but the top-weight has been gelded over the winter and looks capable of doing so.
4:25 – Aquileo – 10/3 @ Bet365 – Given how slowly away, did well to finish as close as he did when 4th on his Newmarket racecourse debut last Atumn, Was then sent of the 7/4 favourite for his next start at Kempton but the stoutly bred colt couldn’t quicken in the lead two furlongs out and had to settle for third place at the line. On pedigree he should appreciate today’s 1m 2f trip and could stay further. Goes handicapping after just two starts and can surely can take advantage of a mark of 75 as a 3-year-old.
Cheers
John
